The budgets of Romania's security institutions were high on agenda of the country's Supreme Defence Council yesterday. It was the first meeting attended by the new Prime Minister, Dacian Cioloş.

Also approached was the issue of combating domestic terrorism, in view of the latest events involving the young ISIS supporter from Croaiova and the ethnic Hungarian extremist.

The Council decided to send more Romanian military to Afghanistan and the Balkans, to take part in NATO missions there. Their effectives will increase by 158 next year, to 11 hundred and 81 military. In exchange, the Interior Ministry will send less gendarmes and policemen to various theatres of war.
