The Church may have to pay taxes to the state budget like any other respectable institution in Romania. We're talking about a new legislative initiative tabled in Parliament with a view to imposing taxes on the economic activities carried on by religious denominations. If the draft law passes, then the retail spaces leased by the Church or the tourism services provided by various denominations will be taxed accordingly.
