Ten years after the kidnapping of the Romanian journalists in Iraq, new information appeared tying Traian Băsescu to the plot. The journalist guide, Mohammad Munaf, states in an exclusive interview that Traian Băsescu would allegedly be the brain of the entire operation with the help of dr. Mohamad Yassin.

Yassin was the liaison between President Basescu and Omar Hayssam. Munaf argues, in the exclusive interview for Antena 3, that the teacher Hayssam mentioned in his statements is Traian Basescu.

Muhammad Munaf tells in his first taped interview, the story of the possible involvement of president Băsescu in planning the kidnaping of the Romanian journalists in Iraq.

Ten years ago, in March 2005, Muhammad Munaf served as guide for journalists Marie Jeanne Ion, Sorin Mişcoci and Ovidiu Ohanesian during their trip to Iraq. Then he was a hostage with them for 55 days.

Mohammad Munaf was accused of taking part in the kidnapping of the Romanian journalists in Iraq. An Iraqi tribunal sentenced Munaf to death in 2006, but the Iraqi Cassation court canceled the sentenced.
