Food is even more expensive than six months ago, before the VAT dropped from 24 to 9 percent in Romania. People say it all the time and shelf prices prove it.
Prices decreased for a while last summer only to grow back shortly afterwards. As for the retailers' markup, it remains a mystery to customers and not only.
It should be displayed in plain view, but very few stores observe this legal provision.
