Antena 3 and the Observer have been awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in the la New York Festivals of World’s Best Television & Film 2014, together with the most important TV networks in the world, during a ceremony held on April 8.

The show Premiere with Carmen Avram” has been honored with two Gold World Medals (in the Biography/Profiles and Current Affairs categories), for the story „The long way home” and with another two  Silver World Medal, for the films „The Inferno of Forgotten children” (Best Investigative Report), respectively „Poisoned Romania” (Environment &Ecology). 

"In fact there are two prizes for this material. One in the Current Affairs category, one in the Profiles category. The Long Way Home which features Petrică Federici, the boy who was adopted from a camp of terror and who returned after 16 years to see his family, it is Petrica who actually won this award; in fact it is his. Petrica has been with us on stage a few moments ago and he charmed the audience, " Carmen Avram said for Antena 3.

"Antena3 was like a little star of the show, everybody was fond of the Antenna 3 team ", concluded Carmen Avram. 

The Observer team has been awarded the Gold World Medal (in the Best News Documentary/Special category) and the  Silver World Medal (Investigative Report) for the campaign „Children are not for sale”, and also a Bronze World Medal, for the campaign „Children are not invisible” (Human Interest). The news journal show, the Observatory is produced by Antena 3.

"We continue to fight for this with the authorities, we hope to make a common front for these things to become known, but we hope to also reach a conclusion. It's a shame for us to take home awards here and without anything happening, " Andreea Berecleanu said for Antena 3.

The winners were chosen by a jury of filmmakers, producers and playwrights, along media professionals around the world.

Important names in the television and film industry participated in the competition for the best productions, the winners list included CNN, Al Jazeera, Discovery, Yahoo! Studios, Deutsche Welle, HBO, ESPN, Showtime Networks, Walt Disney Animation Studios, NBC Entertainment and ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen).

The long way home ", winner of two Gold World Medal in the Biography / Profiles and Current Affairs categories, was made by Denisa Morariu (reporter), Cristian Tamas (image), Liviu Dochiţa (image), Mihai Dina (image) and Adrian Robe (editing). The report tells the story of Petrică Câşlaru, the boy who grew up in a camp of horror on the Siret river. He had the courage to return to Romania, to meet the man who saved his life in an orphanage and to seek his mother.

The footage "the Inferno of forgotten children" by Yevgeniya Kironaki (reporter), Mihai Dina (image), Liviu Dpchia (image), Cristian Tamas (image) and Lenard Zsolt (editing), was awarded the Silver World Medal in the category of Best investigative Report. The report presents the situation of the hundreds of Romanian children abandoned in hospitals and ignored by the state. Out of lack of money and care they are left in their dark rooms, sometimes forced to feed themselves, starting as early as a few months of old.

The Silver World Medal was awarded for the investigation "Romania poisoned", in the Environment & Ecology category. Produced by Alex Nedea (reporter), Michael Buzduga (image), Liviu Dochiţa (image), Lenard Zsolt (editing), the footage presented in the "Premiere" show exhibits the effects of the communist industrial ruins, of bad laws and disinterest over the last 20 years. A country that boasts with a billion tons of earth filled with poisons and hundreds of thousands of Romanians exposed to terrible diseases.

The "Children are not for sale" campaign conducted by the Observatory was awarded twice: the Gold World Medal for Best News Documentary / Special and the Silver World Medal for the Investigative Report category. The campaign showed how, in Romania, infants have become a commodity that is sold for several thousands of dollars, the price being negotiated like in the marketplace.

"Children are not invisible", another campaign by the Observer brand was awarded the Bronze World Medal in the category Human Interest. The footage broadcast ​​informed about the unseen Romanian children, children who do not have any ID, birth certificate or ID. And as such they do not exist; they cannot be vaccinated, nor provided with emergency medical care, and they cannot attend school.

The festival is attended without exception by all great TV networks on the planet, Antena 3 being the only TV station in Romania nominated. Antena 3 is the only news channel in Romania affiliated to CNN International and is part of the INTACT Media Group.
