President Klaus Iohannis enacted Tuesday the law approving the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 35/2015 on increasing the salaries of staff paid from public funds by 10%.
The Chamber of Deputies adopted on November 11, the emergency ordinance which increased by 25% the salaries of workers in the health system, but also by 10% of all public sector wages, if they have not previously benefited from other increases.
Only state employees in central and government local, employees in the national security, gendarmerie, police, emergency inspectorates and units of culture and theater are to benefit from the 10% salary increase.
The Liberals originally opposed the PSD amendment first requesting additional data from the Ministry of Finance regarding the budgetary impact. But MEPs sent the referral back to the committee. Afterwards, the Liberal MPs voted in favor, it passed by a large majority of Parliament.
The National Federation of Unions in Administration (FNSA) called on President Klaus Iohannis to enact the law on the approval of the EGO no. 35/2015 on, warning that otherwise the work program in public administration would be interrupted daily.
