One of the wealthiest Romanian is suing the state. Ion Tiriac demands a compensation of 17 million euros after Romsilva announced that they would not extend the contract of his hunting area.

The billionaire could thus be deprived of the 11,000 hectares of forest where wild boars are bred for annual hunting parties.

The contract for the land where the hunting parties organized by Ion Tiriac are held has expired and Romsilva representatives will not to conclude a new one. For the Balc hunting area Tiriac was paying an annual rent of nine thousand five hundred euro, but the billionaire seeks compensation for all investments made over the last 10 years.

When the billionaire organized the last hunting party, he was acting illegally, the Romsilva representatives argue.

Opinions are divided in the village of Balchik. Locals enjoy that they are taking the forest back. The town hall, however, sees this as a loss.

Ion Tiriac wants to give up the hunting parties. The businessman is already making arrangements for a new hunting area, of nearly a thousand hectares in Caras-Severin. The largest part of the land belongs to the controversial Paul Lambrino.
