UPDATE 20.28 – The 17-year old from Craiova suspected of jihadist propaganda and picked up Tuesday by DIICOT, was detained overnight after being questioned for two hours by investigators.
According to judicial sources quoted by Mediafax, the young man was detained to undergo a psychiatric examination, after which the investigators will decide how they should proceed further with investigations.
He consented to the psychiatric examination and will be taken Wednesday to the Forensic National Institute "Mina Minovici".
Investigators decided that the young should be examined by a psychiatrist to make sure that he is mentally sound, sources said.
UPDATE 17.30 – The chief prosecutor of DIICOT, Daniel Horodniceanu, stated Tuesday that the ISIS supporter was picked up by the special forces and brought in at the headquarters of DIICOT.

A young man from Craiova, suspected of links with the Islamic State group, was detained by DIICOT. Sources close to the investigation stated for Mediafax that investigators have evidence that the young man had allegedly sent via the Internet support message to the jihadist group and movies showing beheadings. This would be the first case of a Romanian citizen radicalized and which came into the attention of prosecutors.
According to hotnews.ro, the boy is a student at a high school in Craiova, and investigators conducted searches at his home Tuesday morning, on the basis of information that he was part of the jihadist propaganda, through messages sent on the Internet.
He was detained and brought in for questioning, from his house jihadist propaganda documents, materials and information systems were seized.
The young man had allegedly promoted systematically in the virtual environment through online platforms, messages of support to terrorist organizations, films showing beheadings of people captured by members of the ISIS group and videos with threatening messages and used means likely to endanger the life and integrity of persons, evidence which the investigators have gotten hold of, the sources said.
The investigation in this case is carried out by DIICOT, with the specialized support of SRI and the support of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Romanian Police.
