The US Ambassador to Bucharest, HE Mr. Hans Klemm, answered a question on the Facebook page of the Embassy, during a chat session on the situation in which the five stations of the Intact group find themselves after the NAFA raids from February 15, 2016.
"I agree with Prime Minister Ciolos that NAFA’s action did not affect the Antenna’s right to broadcast . NAFA only acted to enforce a final judgment issued long ago on the recovery of assets obtained through corruption and stolen from the Romanian people, "said Hans Klemm.
Noting that the information which reached the US envoy in Bucharest is insufficient to form an objective opinion, the Antena 3Director, Mihai Gadea sent him a letter containing essential specifications in this case:
'' First, the judgment being referenced to both in media and in official communications, the one after August 8, 2014 does not apply to none of the five televisions, a fact confirmed by the DNA chief prosecutor, Ms Laura Kovesi in her statement given for Adevarul daily on August 10, 2014.
In connection with that sentence, justice was performed to the end: 13 people have received convictions and the movable and immovable property provided for in the sentence for extended confiscation have been executed since 2015. Since then all buildings concerned including the ones housing the headquarters of the Intact Media Group's five television stations are registered with all the legal steps into the Romanian state property.
The sentence of August 2014 and no other court judgment does not refer to nor require the evacuation of buildings, but their capitalization. As a result there has been no opposition from any representative of the intact Media Group in connection with the implementation of any judicial decision ', says Antena 3, Mihai Gâdea
On Embassy’s web chat, Romanian citizens who wanted to open a dialogue with the high Romanian official, made comments and expressed their opinion about Ambassador Klemm’s attitude.
