The holy profit has risen sky-high! The Romanian Patriarchate and its Dioceses last year declared a net profit of almost seven and a half million euros. Bookeepers registered these funds as surplus, which must be returned to next year's budgets of Bishoprics and Metropolitan Community Churches.
These extra money will be used for church building and repairs and for paying clerics as well. Clergymen also receive, from the Romanian state (!), salaries amounting to more than 60 million euros in 2015. Add to this the contributions made by local authorities, various sponsorship constracts or the public funds covering the Social Security contracts of monks.
