A doctor from the Foişor Orthopedic Center has been detained for 24 hours for having allegedly pocketted a five-thousand lei bribe to operate on a child.
The prosecution with the Bucharest Court of Justice wants doctor Traian Romeo Ursu to be detained for 30 days. According to prosecutors, the doctor demanded at least six thousand lei from the child's parents. He is said to have received five thousand lei in two tranches before the surgery. The Bucharest Court of Justice is to decide whether the criminal investigation against Traian Ursu is to be carried out with him in prison, under house arrest or subject to legal restrictions pending trial.
