Pope Francis may visit Romania in 2018, according to official sources quoted by romania-insider.com. The Pope will come to our country for the ceremonies marking the anniversary of 100 years since the Great Union.
Pope will honor in this way the invitation addressed by President Klaus Iohannis last year when he went to the Vatican. The Pope then accepted the invitation, as announced by the Presidential Administration. Details of the visit will, however, be put in place through diplomatic channels.
This would be the second visit of a Vatican Pope to Romania, after the visit of Pope John Paul II in May 1999.
However, the visit’s details still needed to be negotiated on diplomatic channels.
