Thus, an MP with only one mandate is to receive a pension of about 15 hundred and fifty lei and those who held two parliamentary mandates will get a luxury pension of 31 hundred lei. A Senators or Deputies who had three mandates will receive 46 hundred lei a month. The law was initially passed last summer but the President had it returned to Parliament for reexamination.
After bringing several amendments to it, the MPs endorsed their obscene pension law in its current form. The MPs luxury retirement benefits come in stark contrast with the average pension in Romania, which is approximately 890 lei.
