Hundreds of people protested in several cities against the illegal cutting of forests. Participants have campaigned for changing the Forest Code and demanded that more Romanians take to the streets.
Another large rally was announced for June 5, on the World Environment Day.
Over 300 citizens from Bucharest manifested their dissatisfaction with forests destruction.
Armed with banners, people have asked passersby to sign the petition against deforestation. Protesters call for the legislation’s amendment to stop deforestations.
Dissatisfied with the massive deforestation conducted, citizens of Braşov marched through the city center, chanting slogans against the political class.
Similar protests were held in Timisoara, Cluj Napoca, Craiova, Sibiu, Targu Mures and Sfântu Gheorghe. Ecologists around the country threaten with the organizing of a large rally on June 5, on the World Environment Day. They promise to gather so many people in the streets so that they cannot be ignored by the authorities.
