The Mayor of Timişoara, Nicolae Robu, has hired his own, personal reporters and founded an online television service on Facebook, with the sole purpose of justifying his controversial decisions.
The good Mayor talked about his famous palm trees, parrots and crows, in a whole series of rigged interviews.
The Mayor of Timişoara got into the public eye by starting some aberrant projects, as the local media labelled them. After he financed the planting of palm trees in the city on the Bega river and was often criticized for this... exotic investment, the Mayor decided he must reply... on Facebook.
After palm trees, the Mayor also bought 12 Alexandrine parakeets for the local Botanical garden. As Timişoara doesn't have a tropical climate, the poor birds died within months.
Robu also spoke about a zebra that died in the Timişoara zoo. The unfortunate beast allegedly brought about its own demise by running away.
Robu came up with another crazy idea concerning the crows that had invaded the park behind the Metropolitan Cathedral in Timisoara. Instead of scaring them away by means of ultrasound, our resourceful Mayor wanted to feed them contraceptive pills.
