The general manager of the Victor Babeş Institute in Bucharest and the man who discovered a new type of cells, called telocites, Laurenţiu Popescu passed away at the age of 71. The lifeless body of the Romanian Academician was laid in the chapel of the Icoanei Church in the capital city and his funeral will take place on Wednesday at the Ghencea Civil Cemetery. Laurenţiu Popescu has revolutionized the medical world with his discovery. Telocites are "adjutans" that assist stem cells and help in the recovery of the myocardium in the unfortunate event of a heart attack.
