"In the name of Allah the Merciful. Peace, mercy and blessing of Allah" is the message in Arabic with which the young 17 year old suspected of Jihadist propaganda and who took on the name Omar al-Faruq, after converting to Islam, is beginning his presentation on the Islamic Host blog, ziare.com reports.
"My name is Omar al Farouq after it used to be (...) and I'm 16 and a half years. I was born and raised Orthodox Christian and I became Muslim after I found the truth," wrote the young, in January 2014 on the Islamic Host blog, where he posted a photo of himself.
The young man picked up by DIICOT Tuesday morning tells the story of how he became a Muslim .
"I had a friend named Omar Hamadi (...) who spoke Romanian language well. (...) He told me about the events that took place in Syria and because I lived in a European country, I had not ever heard about these events and when I found out what happened to him, I went to do some research on the topic, " the young says.
A young man from Craiova, suspected of links with the Islamic state group, was detained by DIICOT. Sources close to the investigation stated for Mediafax that investigators had evidence that the young man had sent via the Internet, support message to the jihadist group and movies showing beheadings. This would be the first case of a radicalized Romanian citizen which came into the attention of prosecutors.
