The SRI Director attended Wednesday the meeting of the Permanent Joint Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for the Oversight of Intelligence work.
Maior was asked after the meeting if the SRI knew that the brother of President Traian Basescu , Mircea, was allegedly blackmailed in a case file in which the name of Bercea Modialul was involved. "I do not comment on individual cases that are currently being tried in court," said George Maior.
The son in law of Bercea Mondialul, accused of allegedly having blackmailed Mircea Basescu, brother of President Traian Basescu, to whom he would have required 280,000 euros threatening to publish compromising information about him, was taken into custody for 30 days, at the end of May, by the Court of Constanta.
According to judicial sources, with the detention of the son in law of Bercea Mondialul, Marius Constantin, there emerged evidence in the case, which led to the reopening of the file in which the son of Bercea Mondialul, Florin Anghel, was denounced by Mircea Basescu for influence peddling and blackmail.
Subsequently to its reopening, the file was sent from the Prosecutor’s office attached to Constanta Court to DNA’s office in Constanta.
The quoted sources added that after the file reopening it was necessary to transfer Florin Anghel to the Poarta Albă Penitentiary, so that he could be interrogated by the DNA office in Constanta whenever necessary.
In the judge's reasoning of rights and freedoms issued by the Constanta Court which issued the warrant of arrest on the name of Marius Constantin, son in law of Bercea Mondialul shows that Mircea Basescu baptized, about four years ago, the daughter of Izaura Anghel and Marius Constantin , the connection between the two families being made by Marian Adrian Căpăţână.
Family members of Sandu Anghel aka Bercea Mondial were investigated by the police over the past six years, in about 120 criminal cases, most of them following complaints made against each other, and who are currently investigated in six cases.
