The Justice Ministry has sent negative advisory opinions to President Klaus Iohannis before he decide whether to pardon Monica Iacob Ridzi and George Mencinicopschi, journalist Adina Anghelescu said Monday exclusively on Antena 3.

According to the journalist, she had the piece of information from Iulia Costea, Advisor to the Minister of Justice, Raluca Prună.

"This opinion can be taken into account or not. The pardon is an act of clemency which only the president can grant and is entitled to. In general, the pardon was granted on medical and social reasons, "said journalist Adina Anghelescu Monday on the show On Today’s Agenda, on Antena 3.

President Klaus Iohannis rejected Thursday the pardon applications submitted by Monica Iacob Ridzi and former director of the Food Research Institute (ICA), George Mencinicopschi.

In this case, two negative opinions were given, but the Justice Ministry has not told the reasons.

Professor Gheorghe Mencinicopschi was sentenced to serve eight years of imprisonment in the Telepathy case .

In parallel, journalist Anghelescu recalled that Traian Basescu when he was president, pardoned a man convicted of drug trafficking.
