Romania’s national women handball team has qualified on Thursday in the main groups of the European Championships in Hungary and Croatia, after beating Ukraine's team by a score of 23-22 (12-9) in the last match of preliminary Group B.
Highly motivated by the good game against Denmark on Tuesday evening the Romanian team dominated the match against Ukraine since the start, with a relatively comfortable advantage at halftime, 12-9. In the second half, driven by George Tadic, the handball team kept it "going", performing a show in front of their Romanian fans who made the trip to Debrecen and who rewarded them with generous applause. There were less successful moments in the game by the end but finally the victory went to Romania at a tight score 23-22.
Cristina Neagu was the best player of Romania, with 8 goals, the most important in the match.
With 3 points accumulated in the preliminary group B, Romania’s team has qualified in the main group of the European Championship, which starts with 1 point in the ranking obtained in the dispute against Denmark.
