Intel announced that it's developing a tehnology that will allow future Ultrabooks to charge mobile phones or other devices with electric energy without the aid of electric cables, according to CNet.

Integrated Device Tehnology stated in a blog post that it will develop and deliver the chipsets that will enable some future Ultrabooks to wirelessly charge certain devices.

The Wireless Charging Technology by Intel (WCT) is a pretty simple concept, reminding of some of Nikola Tesla's work. One device can be charged with electric energy if it is put within 3/4 centimeters of WCT-enabled Ultrabook with WCT detection software running. The laptop will couple with the mobile device and begin transferring energy wirelessly.

The post says that one hour of wireless charging would enable a depleted phone to "make it through the afternoon." According to IDT, the new chipsets will hit the shelves in 2013, but shared no deffinitive timeline for it's release.
