The number of Romanian accounts on the Facebook social network has reached 8 million, up by 5% from the beginning of the year. Out of these, 1.64 million users reside in Bucharest, Mediafax reports.
"If they keep the same pace in the months ahead, and I see no reason why they should not, 2015 could be the year with a bigger growth than 2014 of the overall number of Facebook users in Romania", the Facebrands general manager Ionut Oprea, said in a statement.
In early 2014, the number of Romanian accounts on the Facebook network has exceeded 7 million and a year later it reached 7.6 million.
The Capital still has the most users on Facebook in Romania, 1.64 million accounts, ie 21.95% of user accounts in Romania, followed by Cluj, Iasi, Timisoara and Constanta with over 200,000 Facebook users.
Another 10 cities have over 100,000 Facebook users, respectively Craiova, Brasov, Galati, Ploiesti, Oradea, Arad, Bacau, Pitesti, Sibiu and Buzau..
The number of Romanian pages created on Facebook rose from 26,785 to 27,697 from the beginning of the year until mid-March.
Most Romanian Facebook pages are registered in the local business categories (2993) Art and Culture (1718) Health & personal (1539), online stores (1565), singers and bands (1 336) and blogs (1.216).
