The specialists of Barlad Observatory have made an important discovery: a bright red nova located in a galaxy about 21 million light-years from Earth.

The discovery stunned even the Americans who were quick to register it in the Central Bureau of Astronomical Telegrams in the US.
The red light nova, a star in the galaxy of Messier 101 is about 21 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major.

"The discovery itself on the main telescope of the Observatory was made on February 10, but we waited for the spectrographic confirmation from other larger telescopes in the world. To our joy, it is a unique discovery in Romania and certainly will remain in history. We have demonstrated that we can make scientific discoveries in this field of astronomy, "the coordinator of the " Perseus " Observatory in Barlad, Ciprian Vântdevară said, quoted by Mediafax.
