Romanians are the winners of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva with an invention made ​​by a group of Romanians and bought three months ago by a company in Switzerland. Also a Romanian engineer was awarded in Geneva for an invention which lowers fuel consumption.

List of Romanian inventors honored in Geneva is much longer.

According to the Minister Delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development, Mihnea Costoiu, the Romanians won 18 gold medals, eight silver medals, four bronze medals and 17 special awards in the current edition plus the grand prize.

"It's a record for Romania", the minister said. "I am extremely pleased that Romanians not only produce inventions, but produce inventions that are already applied and are sought by large companies to be produced in series, in the economy," the minister stated in a telephone intervention on Antenna 3.

Mihnea Costoiu said that the team winning the grand prize this year is "the same team that I supported last year, at the Salon of Inventions in Geneva, and which won the grand prize for the scanner aircraft".

This year's winning invention is a camera system able to follow a movement, to recognize and make a montage of images that instantly return to video form of customized smartphone owners, the minister said.

The invention of the team I-Rewind has been successfully tested in the First Escape in 2013, the biggest cycling race in Romania, where the approximately 3,000 participants received a video of their progress in the race.
