German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Thursday that the Romanian-German economic relations will be intensified this spring, provided that the justice system in Romania continue to improve and to fight corruption.
"In the spring we will have many more activities to further develop economic relations. There is one condition - and we discussed this - is that the system of law, of justice should be improved further to combat corruption. There have been considerable successes lately and the government of Mr. Dacian Cioloş (...) is working with a lot of energy on this task, which is a very important condition, “said Merkel in a joint press conference with the Romanian Prime Minister, according to Agerpres.

ln his turn PM Dacian Cioloș pointed out that "Germany is a partner of strategic importance for Romania ".
"Germany is the first trading partner, with 20% of the trade that Romania performs is with Germany, over 20 billion annually. (...) We discussed the priorities which my Government has this year which focuses primarily on reform and administration efficiency , a vision of long-term economic development and predictability in legislative, fiscal and financial terms ", Prime Minister Ciolos.
He added that he intended to return this spring to Germany "for an applied visit in some provinces" in order to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.
