US President Barack Obama nominated on Tuesday Hans G. Klemm as Ambassador to Romania, according to a statement on the White House website.

Hans G. Klemm, a career diplomat, adviser to the State Department Secretary-General for Management, a position he has held since January 2015.
Earlier in the period 2012-2015, he was the principal assistant secretary in the Bureau of Human Resources Department and before that he served as coordinator for the Rule of Law and Enforcement in the Embassy of Kabul, Afghanistan (2010- 2012).
Klemm was US ambassador to East Timor from 2007 to 2010, and second-class officer for Economic Affairs at the US embassy in Tokyo in 2006-2007. From 2004 to 2006 he was deputy director of the Office of Career Development in the Human Resources Office.
Between 2000 and 2001, Klemm has been deputy director of the Office of the EU and Regional Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

Klemm has also held positions in Germany, Japan, South Korea and Trinidad and Tobago, within the State Department.
He is a graduate of the university of Indiana and has a master's degree from Stanford University
