Hungary has embraced a barbed wire diplomacy that places it on a collision course with all its neighbors! After erecting a 25-mile-long fence along its frontier with Croatia, the Government in Budapest has also dispatched armoured vehicles to patrol the 250-mile-long border with the neighbouring country.
As if it wasn't enough, dissatisfied with the Croats' sending thousands of immigrants to their border, the Hungarian Foreign Minister accused the Croatian Government of 'human smuggling' and 'forcing' migrants into the country.
After Hungary, Croatia and, more recently, Bulgaria closed their frontiers to illegal immigrants, Westbound people might make a detour through Romania. To avoid the chaos reigning supreme at their neighbours' borders, the authorities in Bucharest have already set up military tents and portable toilets half a mile from the frontier with Serbia, in the village of Lunga. Not all the locals are happy about it, however.
Romania is willing to accommodate 1,785 refugees in the 6 facilities we can make available. Most of them are supposed to come from Hungary, whose authorities Bucharest has engaged in an all-out diplomatic war with.
