The Foreign Ministry said in a response sent to Agerpres, that the Romanian Embassy in Paris knows about the incident occurred on the night of 20 to 21 March when a store that used to sell Romanian products in the city of Denain in northern France, was set on fire by two municipal agents and is following the case closely.

According to him, the Romanian diplomatic mission will send a mobile consular team to Denain to discuss with local authorities, police and the judiciary in order to obtain further information about the circumstances of the incident.

"Also, the Romanian Embassy in Paris will bring the case to the attention of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development. The Embassy is in permanent contact with the shop owner, a Romanian national, and provides him consular assistance, within its legal competence" , reads the MFA statement.

Station Europe 1 informed on Saturday in the online edition that in Denain , northern France, two municipal agents are prosecuted for " volunteer racist fire " after they set fire to a shop owned by a Romanian.

The two municipal agents were placed under judicial control, prosecution sources said on Saturday in Valenciennes.
