Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu announced Friday that two Romanian citizens who had been kidnapped in Nigeria by a "criminal group" other than the Boko Haram organization, were released, stating, however, that the Romanian state has not paid any ransom.
"It's about the kidnapping and sequestration by a criminal group of two Romanian citizens in Nigeria. On January 20, 2015 we were informed by the Romanian Embassy in Abuja on the kidnapping of two Romanian citizens who were working in Nigeria" Aurescu said, quoted by Agerpres .
The Romanian diplomat said that the whole situation was successfully completed thanks to the involvement of the Foreign Ministry's Consular service.
