Moscow denounced again the US plans to station in Romania and Poland vertical launching missile systems as a "direct violation of the INF Treaty," after being accused by Washington that it did not meet its commitments on arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament .

Russian Foreign Ministry declared in a press release quoted by Russian news agency Tass that he was very worried about the "US plans to deploy in Romania and Poland systems (missiles) with vertical launch, capable (in his opinion) to launch Standard missile-3 interceptors (SM-3) and cruise missiles with medium range Tomahawk (type).

"Their deployment will be a direct violation of the INF Treaty," Moscow said.

"In addition, it raises questions as to why the United States use in the testing of their missile defense r weapons targets with parameters similar to those of short-range missiles and medium-range" the minister wondered, responding that "there is reason to believe that in this way the United States could test a number of issues regarding the production and use of treaty banned ballistic missiles in combat ".

Moscow also said that " attack drone " which the United States manufactured for years fall under the definition of the INF Treaty cruise missile launched from the ground, especially in the light of what is meant by the term "delivery vehicle ", formalized in an exchange of notes between the Soviet and American governments in May 1988.

"Noteworthy are the statements of some officials at the Pentagon that the United States are considering the options of a military response to Russian , including the possibility of deploying near our borders short-range missiles and medium-range missiles, prohibited by the INF Treaty" , the ministry says, according to Mediafax.

"It is clear that such action would be tantamount to the complete destruction of the United States of INF Treaty regime with all the ensuing consequences," Moscow warns.

Medium range Forces Treaty (INF), signed in 1987 by the United States and the former Soviet Union prohibited nuclear, conventional and cruise ballistic missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500 kilometers.

Moscow accused the US State Department in a report that they have violated the obligations which they assumed under the Treaty.
