NATO Forces Command in the Italian city of Naples will be transferred to Romania at Cincu, Brasov County.
The transfer will be only temporarily for a military exercise of the Alliance which will be held for 12 days, involving 1,000 soldiers from 22 states. It will be the first deployment of a NATO headquarters in Romania.
Details were discussed yesterday with Romanian officials, by the US Admiral Mark Ferguson, chief of the Naples command forces , on a visit to Bucharest.
The admiral said that the exercise is defensive in nature and responds to new "security challenges" to the East and South.
