The US Ambassador appointed to Romania, Hans Klemm, said Wednesday during the hearings before the Foreign Policy Relations Committee in the US Senate, that Romania is not vulnerable to the propaganda of the Russian Federation and the partnership with the US and its allies is strong, mediafax.ro reports.

Answering some questions from the US senators on the vulnerability of the Russian propaganda, Hans Klemm said that, historically, the bilateral relationship between Romania and Russia was not good and, according to polls, the Romanians have a negative perception of Russia, the public opinion being dominated by the pro-American, pro-Western options.

However, Klemm said that given the situation in the region, Romanians are worried about the developments at their Eastern border, but Romania's partnership with the US and its allies is a strong one.
Senators also wanted to know what the situation is in terms of Romania's energy independence and the pressures the Russian Federation could exert on Bucharest. Klemm said that, unlike all the neighboring countries, Romania is not dependent on the export of natural gas and oil from Russia and is not vulnerable in this regard.
The diplomat said that Romania has got natural resources, and the US encouraged the Romanian state to invest in energy infrastructure and resources diversification.
On March 25, the US President Barack Obama, nominated Hans G. Klemm as ambassador to Romania.

Hans G. Klemm, a career diplomat, is advisor to the Undersecretary for Management in the State Department, a position he has held since January 2015.
