The Swedish Imam would buy guns from Romania, Bosnia and Libya through an organization in charge of civil protection. A large part of the military equipment originated in the arsenal of the former dictator Gaddafi, foreign journalists report.
The weaponry was shipped through Turkey and taken over by the rebels at the Syrian border. In one year and a half, the Syrian ethnic has become one of the main suppliers of military equipment to the rebel opposing the Damascus regime.
The source of information for the press is the very imam of Stockholm . He gave a British researcher a series of interviews whereby he admitted to trafficking weapons and food, that he sent to the Free Syrian Army.
According to Swedish law, however, the transport of weapons without a permit from the state is illegal. Imam said, however, that the entire activity took place abroad.
