UPDATE – The protest in front of the Channel 4 TV station began at 17:00 and gathered Romanians outraged by the attitude of the British.
Miruna Galea reported from the rally that Romanians came holding billboards reading "We are Romanians" and "Here are the real Romanians".
"What I want to say is that we come here to find a job completely legal, to study, to work , this has got a positive effect primarily on Romania. Secondly, dignified people, simple, honest can only bring value to their hosting country and this is the message we want to convey to the Channel 4. We will continue the protest, despite the weather. "
The Romanians community in Great Britain reacts after Channel 4 broadcast a controversial documentary about immigrants coming from our country.
Romanians in UK are holding a rally today at 17.00 Romania’s time in front of the Channel 4 headquarters.
The call was launched on the Internet by community members the other day. They were outraged and offended about the way Romanian immigrants were featured in this documentary.
Miruna Galea, a student at the Bradford University, explained live on the TV show "Sequential", conducted by Adrian Ursu, that the Romanian gathered in front of the Channel 4 and hoped to receive a favorable response from the TV station’s management.
"As this is a " silent " protest, our attitude is a peaceful one. We do not judge the people of Channel 4 for broadcasting this material. It is a truth, those things happen which they showed. But we want them to change the name from "The Romanians are coming" ("Vin into "The gypsies are coming”, we would like an apology from the TV station.
Miruna explained that Romanians participating in the rally are seeking a decent response from Channel 4.
"Earlier I signed a petition to send an official message to the people at Channel 4 and we hope to receive a decent response, to give us the satisfaction and to understand that this documentary which they broadcast is not 100% right. "
