Romanians wishing to travel to the US should not expect the lifting of visa earlier than 2017, says US Ambassador to Romania, Hans Klemm, according to which there is a possibility to change the law in this respect after the US elections.
Hans Klemm said Thursday in Arad that Romania meets all the conditions, minus the rejection rate, but the American Embassy in Bucharest strives to help those who want to travel to the US, Mediafax reports.
"Nothing will happen this year, I am honest with you. Immigration is a sensitive subject, is one of the main topics discussed in the presidential campaign in the US this year, we cannot expect it to happen sooner than 2017 ... the earliest possible law amendment is in 2017.
Romania meets all the criteria and conditions of the current law, except for the rejection rate, I think we need to wait and see if the trend changes. (...) It is possible that in 2017 or after elections changes may occur in the US law, "said the US Ambassador to Romania.
