One in five Romanian children drop out of school the latest UNICEF report shows, and the main cause would be the reduction of the budget on education in Romania, Gandul writes.

"School dropout rate has registered a downward trend, from 18 percent to 15 percent in 2009, while in 2010-2011 it increased again, reaching 16 percent. We are registering a a slightly upward trend, whereas in that period , the education budget was most affected. The target s that by 2020 the droput rate should decrease to 11 percent, "the Minister of Education, Remus Pricopie, said.

The study surveying the period 2005-2009 shows that the dropout rate in Romania is 20%, although by 2014 it should reach a rate of 15%
