Romania is among the countries with the highest gas price in the  world, calculated according to the purchasing power, ranking in 11th place after the cost share of a gallon of gasoline by  average daily income, according to a Bloomberg survey of 61 countries. A gallon of premium gasoline, which is about four liters, costs 4.92 euros, while the average daily income is 28 dollars (22.5 euros). Thus, for the purchase of about four liters of gas, a Romanian must pay 22.04% of the average daily income, the Blomberg study said, according to Mediafax. Calculated for a liter of fuel, the share is 5.82% of the average daily income.


In terms of price per liter of gasoline, it stands at 1.3 euro, decreasing  by 17% in the last six months in Romania, according to Bloomberg data.

Thus, Romania ranks 29th among the countries considered in the Bloomberg overview by gasoline price per liter. Considering, however, the  wages too, Romania ranks in the top called "pain at the pump" on the  11th place among the 61 countries analyzed.

The top countries with the highest prices for gasoline is led by Norway, where a liter of gas costs 1.96 euros, followed by Turkey (1.79 euro) and Hong Kong (1.72 euros).

By Price, Romania lies between  Croatia (1.31 euro per liter), the 28th place and Chile (1.26 euro per liter), place 30. The price of a liter of gasoline is lower in Romania  than in countries like Lithuania (1.29 euro per liter) and Estonia (1.21 euro per liter).

In turn, the Czech Republic (1.33 euro per liter), Greece (1.5 euro per liter), Slovakia and Slovenia (1.42 euro per liter), gasoline costs more than in Romania.

In terms of "pain at the pump," the Bloomberg ranking is led by Pakistan, where buying a liter of gasoline takes  one third of the average daily income, which stands at $ 3.55 (2.8 euros).


The top ten countries completing the ranking  are India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Turkey, Thailand, Bulgaria, South Africa, Nigeria and China.


In Bulgaria, a liter of gasoline costs 1.19 euro, less than in Romania, but its  ranking on the  seventh position among "pain at the pump" is determined by the average daily income of 21 dollars (16.9 euros). To purchase of a liter of gasoline a Bulgarian pays 7.07% of the average daily  income.


The price of a liter of gasoline in Hungary is 1.23 euros, a Hungarian covers  this amount by  4.25% of the average daily income (16th) ..


Venezuela occupies the last position in both rankings, with a price of 0.01 euros per liter. The last time the government tried to reduce fuel subsidies in 1989, riots took place which resulted in hundreds of people being killed.

In the second quarter of this year, when the previous study was conducted, Romania ranked in the top 23 on  gasoline prices (1.41 euro per liter) and ninth position among "pain at the pump." 

The Bloomberg Gas Price Ranking reviews 61 countries, taking into account the average price of gasoline and the  "pain at the pump", which measures the percentage of the  average daily income needed to buy a liter of gasoline or a gallon of gasoline. Data are available for the fourth quarter of this year.
