Iliescu added that during his term as president nobody called anybody to ask them to keep somebody in office, as the statute of president would not allow it.
Finance Minister Daniel Chiţoiu, stated that he had been called by president Traian Băsescu, two to three weeks ago and that the President had asked him not to change Radu Gheţea from his position of CEO of CEC Bank, without reasonable grounds to that effect.
The statement was made last week at the Government’s headquarters , under the context where Ioana Băsescu, Traian Băsescu’s daughter contracted on September 9, 2013, a loan in lei from CEC Bank of 4,6 million Romanian lei to buy 290 hectares of farmland in Calarasi county.
Premier Victor Ponta stated that the CEC bank president, Radu Gheţea, will be changed from office.
Ilie Sârbu, PSD senator, spoke Sunday night during the "Subjective with Răzvan Dumitrescu" show about the " CEC deal" that president Traian Basescu is involved in.
According to him, if we were a normal country, Traian Băsescu would not have been president.
"I believe this time he will not get away with it (president Traian Băsescu-editor’s note), he was way to explicit about how he conducted the influence pedaling ", the senator said.
