The answer the Russian have given Ilie Năstase, after the former tennis player announced he wanted to settle in Russia to escape the taxes in Romania
Ilie Nastase is welcomed in Russia, but he has to follow the procedures. That’s the Kremlin's reply for the former Romanian tennis player, shortly after he announced his intention to settle in the Russian Federation.

The Russian’s reply to the news that Ilie Năstase was entertaining the Russian dream wasn’t „yes” nor „no”.

May be that Ilie Năstase is not yet as famous in Russia as Gerard Depardieu, the one who served him for inspiration.

If the case of the French actor and, more recently, Russian, the decision was made much easier. A whole world could see what serious connections Depardieu had in Kremlin. Even if the Russians claim they have treated him like any other applicant for a Russian passport.

It’s true, though, that Ilie Nastase does not foster the same claims as the French-Russian star. He does not want a new citizenship.

Ilie Nastase has not yet made up his mind to get to action and start filling in forms and applications. But he would do it to protest against the outrageous taxes in Romania, he said.
