Interim president, Crin Antonescu, stated, Thursday, from Cotroceni Palace, that the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) decision originated in the belief that every vote and the votes of „real people“ matter in the democratic process. He added that democracy makes sense when it means integrating every citizen's freedom of expression.

- I have acknowledged the CCR decision and even if it means an unexpected delay of the verdict and of the final act, beyond respecting this decision, that we all have agreed on, we welcome the fact that this delay expresses, in fact, the confidence of the Court in the democratic process in which every vote and the vote of the real people matter
- I believe that in this groundwork expressed by CCT yet another proof that democracy makes sense when it means integrating every citizen's freedom of expression
- The media takes part of the credit for this beneficial evolution of things. And also the community, who brought to attention these past days matters that concern as all as citizens
- We have to make a final decision and after that we will know whether we hold new elections or not on September 12th. This does not mean there will be a follow-up of the electoral campaign that ended at the start of the referendum neither it means tha Romania will continue with a state of instability.
