Roberta Anastase: What was expected to happen happened. It is my obligation to defend the President of the Chamber institution at the Constitutional Court

Immediately after being revoked from her position as President of the Chamber of Deputies (the Lower Chamber), Roberta Anastase announced that it was her duty to defend the position she held and that she would move further at CCR (Constitutional Court of Romania) in order to attack the decision taken by the deputies.

"What was expected to happen happened (...). The last hours events are extremely serious", she added, claiming that she didn't want to defend Roberta Anastase herself, but the institution of the Chamber of Deputies' President.

Anastase mentioned also that, as President of the Lower Chamber, she had never received any requests for a special session at the two Permanent Bureaus.

"The Legal Commission has fabricated a report about a session that I haven't presided, so I couldn't have broken the statute", Anastase said.

"It is my duty to defend this institution and appeal the decision at the Constitutional Court."

Roberta Anastase was revoked from the position of President of the Chamber of Deputies Tuesday evening.
