"I am afraid and I say it without reservation, although it's risky: I am worried about Transnistria, not necessarily all of Moldova," said Basescu.
He pointed out that it is not an anti-Russian propaganda, but he assumed that because Russia became unpredictable.
"You cannot help looking on the map. I am not conducting and anti Russian propaganda, but not knowing, I suppose, because Russia has become unpredictable and then as head of state, you are bound to try, to make assumption," said Basescu.
The President said that he believes that Crimea was the "target zero" for Russia, "another target" is returning on the Danube.
"In my opinion, Crimea was the target zero and another target is returning to the Danube’s mouth, which means from Crimea to Odessa and to the Bratul Chilia. (...) Definitely, if Putin decides to return, peaceful or less peaceful until the Danube mouth, definitely, Transnistria is lost, it will have the status of part of the Russian Federation, " Basescu said.
