Romania has to return to the European Union one billion euros. We are referring to the financial corrections imposed after  the European Commission found several irregularities in the absorption of European funds. Specifically, during 2009 - 2011, when the Government was led by Emil Boc there were repeated violations  of the  public tenders law.

The top three positions in the list of problematic projects, financed from European funds are occupied by the highways of  Anca Boagiu. The former Minister of Transport would have awarded to targeted contractors some important contracts. Therefore, the  biggest financial corrections were incurred because of the Orastie - Sibiu Highway,  amounting to 71 million and  the Nădlac - Arad highway, which should have been awarded to the company  of  Nelu Iordache, a close friend of Anca Boagiu. The project was stopped after Nelu Iordache was arrested for tax evasion and money laundering.

The 4th place in the ranking is occupied by another infrastructure project. For the highway Lugoj - Deva, the Lugoj - Dumbrava sector, the financial correction imposed by the European Union was 8.1 million euros. The top features also  a project financed by the Operational Programmed for the  Environment. For the  cleaning of  a hazardous materials site 6.9 million euros were illegally paid.

The top  is completed by Elena Udrea’s projects. The European Commission has sanctioned the Regional Operational Program under the Ministry of Development for dozens of projects approved without observing the European procedure. For example, the financial corrections for the modernization of the Dorobanţilor Boulevard in the Capital was 5.5 million.
