Among the 99 Syrians, there were 17 minors and 9 women and they told authorities that they wanted to reach the Schengen area.
All the 99 immigrants were transferred on board the "Stefan cel Mare", where Romanian Border Police staff provided assistance and first aid.
In the same operation, in early August, the Romanian ship has detected in Italian territorial waters another boat with 95 Syrian immigrants on board.
