The tenants in the buildings filed a complaint to the Prosecutor. The City Hall employees were indicted, but Basescu was absolved of any blame.
"It's a story whereby we learn yet again how Basescu was rescued by the super immunity he holds that has always been used just to get rid of any liability," said Adrian Ursu in the Sunday edition of the "Sequential "show.
"In 2002, in a single day, mayor Traian Băsescu restituted to an individual named Jordan Nicolas a number of none less than 66 buildings in Bucharest. The buildings have quite an important value. Many of these villas are occupied by tenants. People have found that some properties cannot be restituted because the former owner had donated them to the Chamber of Commerce to have an asylum built in one of these buildings. Immediately people smelled a real estate scam. (...) The case came to the Prosecutor General. Mr Basescu was removed from criminal prosecution on account of his immunity and the case was severed, taken from one judge to the other (...) nothing has been ruled in it to this day, "said Bianca Nae, Head of Antenna 3 Investigations Unit .
