The diplomat also underlined that the Romanian army, " envied by many others in the region" is "a key strategic partner of the United States."
"We see Romanian law enforcement institutions dedicated to working with us in the fight against global terrorism and organized crime. Judicial and state institutions as they strive to ensure targeting of resources towards projects for Romanian citizens that they have been assigned, instead of having such resources go into the pockets of those inclined to undermine state security, “Thompson said.
The US diplomat pointed out the existence of interesting entrepreneurial projects that the Embassy has awarded this year through the "Contractor of the Month" program by promoting dedicated business people "who take risks to pursue their dreams, create jobs and generate economic growth ".
"In the civil society we see efforts to embrace diversity, so tragically destroyed by the past regimes, but embraced by a new generation that wants to celebrate the concept of a multi-ethnic Romania, with diverse peoples related by a common heritage, a concept more important than ever now that Romania is facing demographic realities of the future century, "said the US charge d'affaires in Bucharest.
