European hysteria on the stray dogs issue. Euthanasia law has sparked a wave of controversy across the Union
The news about Ionut's case, the child who died after being attacked by stray dogs in a park in Bucharest, went across Europe.

The law on euthanasia adopted by the Romanian Parliament this month sparked a wave of controversy across the European Union, where NGOs protest against the killing of stray dogs.

RTL journalists, the German television, have reported on this case and about the stray dogs in Romania adopted by families in Germany

People interviewed by RTL journalists are outraged at the possibility that stray dogs in Romania be killed.

They argue that in Romania, dogs are not euthanized, but hacked to death. They all agree though that our country must take action in relation to the tens of thousands of dogs living on the streets.

They say that the law enacted by Parliament is too drastic and demand that authorities and NGOs should build dog shelters.

Those who want to adopt dogs and take them Germany complain that they would have wanted to save more dogs from death, but the Romanian state did not provided them with this possibility.

Abroad , campaigns were initiated to convince animal lovers to adopt as many dogs as they can and save them from death.
