Romania will not sign another agreement with the IMF, the World Bank and the European Commission, after 2015.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Finance, in an interview for Antena 3.
The current agreement expires mid next year and Ioana Petrescu believes that our country is stable enough not to need the safety net provided by the international financial institutions.
The agreement that we have now is a precautionary one, meaning the state will draw money from the accounts made available if needed.
Moreover, 2015 is the year that Romania will return most of the money from the loan amounting to 20 billion awarded in 2009 by the IMF, European Commission and World Bank.
"I do not think it is necessary for Romania to enter into another agreement with the IMF," said Finance Minister Ioana Petrescu.
