The VAT reduction to 9% for food products has entered into force. Which are the new prices

Last night, many shops have changed the food prices after they applied the reduced VAT. From 24 o'clock in nonstop open stores, customers were able to buy cheaper food.
Reducing the VAT rate from 24% to 9% for food products is compulsory as of today, June 1.
Some stores prepared their price tags with the reduced VAT hours before the clock turned 12 o'clock at night, so that all buyers should benefit from lowered prices starting with the first minutes of June 1st.
Traders hope that the VAT reduction will persuade customers to buy more, but also try other types of products which they could not afford before.

In order for people to see the benefits, some stores will show both the old price and that obtained after reducing the VAT. The price drop will help the consumer make an average saving of 12%.
Applying a VAT of 9% for food products, soft drinks and ingredients used for cooking would lead to an increase in GDP of 0.6%, according to the Government.
