The head of SRI Activity Control Commission, Claudiu Manda, explained why he received the request from DNA concerning the criminal prosecution of Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the president of the Senate.
'As long as there are four vice-presidents it could not go straight to Mr. Tariceanu. The reason why (the request) came to me is because Mr. Tariceanu was supposed to be gone today, tomorrow and next week, and I was supposed to keep his place, so the request came to me. We are all interested in why this warrant was issued ", said Manda.
This information comes after the President of the Senate, Calin Popescu Tariceanu was accused of recieving $800,000 as a bribe from representatives of an Austrian company to close several commercial contracts.
